Joining Darlington Libraries and Library Membership

Darlington Libraries membership is free and offered to anyone who lives or works in Darlington, or visits Darlington regularly.

You can register in person at at one of our libraries by showing proof of identity. There is no minimum age, but anyone under the age of 16 years will require a signature ID of a parent or guardian.

You can download and print the library membership form attached to this page and take it to one of our branches to become a full library member.

 

Alternatively, you can complete our online form, below, for digital only membership.

Once completed you can upgrade to a full library membership by showing proof of identity in person at one of our libraries.

Digital membership

Please use our online form if you would like to request a digital membership. By joining online you will receive a temporary membership number that you can start using for digital reading straight away. Please make a note of your temporary membership number.

Temporary membership will last for one year.

You may activate your full library membership at any time. This will allow you to borrow books and access library computer facilities. To upgrade you will need to provide identification at either of our branches. You will then be given your library card.

How to Join

To borrow books and other materials from Darlington Libraries you will need to complete and return an application form. You will also need to bring proof of identity to one of our branches. Once we have received both, you will be given a Library card which enables you to borrow items or use our public access computer facilities.

Children under 16 years

Anyone under the age of 16 will need to ask a parent or guardian to complete an application form on their behalf. We will require proof of idenity from the parent or guardian.

Arena account upgrade

Upgrading your account with a username and password, when you sign into our website, will allow you to
