Library membership

Darlington Libraries membership is free and offered to anyone who lives, works or visits Darlington regularly.

You can register in person at Darlington or Cockerton branch by showing proof of identity. There is no minimum age, but anyone under the age of 16 years will require a signature from a parent or guardian.

 

Digital membership

Please use our online form if you would like to request a digital membership.

This will give you basic library membership with access to online resources.

Digital membership will last for one year, after which you will be asked if you would like to renew.

You may activate your full library membership at any time. This will allow you to borrow books and access library computer facilities. To upgrade you will need to provide identification at either of our branches. You will then be given your library membership card.

Join the Library - Under 16s

If you would like to make a Darlington Libraries membership for someone who is under 16; Please complete the following form.
We will also require your own details as acting guarantor.
If you are not already a member of Darlington Libraries, we will also create an account for you.

To be eligible for a digital library membership you must live, work or study in the borough of Darlington.

The information you provide will enable us to manage the library service, which you are applying to use. Please notify us if your details change. Your information is processed in accordance with current data protection legislation. Further information about how we process your data can be found on our website.

By acting as Guarantor you are helping someone else to join the library. This means that you:  know the person applying to join  authorise and agree to be the contact for the child or young person applying to join  will make sure that the items are returned to the library and are looked after  will make sure that any lost or damaged items are paid for  are aware that you could have your own library membership suspended until any matter is settled
