The collection contains over 40,000 indexed images of local people and places, some of these are oil paintings and watercolours. There is also access to the Durham Record, a collection of photographs of County Durham.

Monumental inscriptions are transcripts of the wording on headstones and can be very useful when tracing your family history.

The Centre for Local Studies has an extensive collection of Monumental Inscriptions compiled mainly by the Cleveland, South Durham and North Yorkshire Family History Society. To see our full list click here
