GREAT BRITAIN: RACIAL GROUPS: SOCIOLOGY
Well, the book club shouldn't be the first to review this high profile book. It certainly created debate but more about attitude and style. Everyone was disappointed with being shouted at and lectured and the ranting style. A complete contrast to our recent review of Queenie which made us think about the racism in a constructive way. Reni E-L came across as intolerant and assertive and her experiences did not resonate with the group. The club is well aware of racism but could not accept the book as a good way to address it.
